Alappuzha: A week after the tragic car accident that claimed lives of six students of Vandanam TD Medical college, mother of one of the deceased came up with a sharp criticism against the hostel authorities of the college. K K Meena, mother of Alvin George alleged that the hostel authorities did not inform the parents when the students went out of the hostel violating the rules.
As per the rule, the students are restricted from going outside the hostel after 7.30 pm. Citing the serious negligence, Meena demanded an explanation from the hostel authorities and added that she would file a complaint against them.
Alvin George, 19, son of Edathua native Kochumon George met with the road accident while going to Alappuzha with his friends in a car. He succumbed to the injuries while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kochi on December 5. He was shifted to the private hospital from the Government Medical College Hospital after his condition turned critical. He had suffered multiple injuries to his skull, lungs, kidneys, left rib and knee.
The accident took place around 9.30 pm on December 2 when the students' car crashed into the Kayamkulam-Guruvayur KSRTC superfast bus at the Kalarkode-Changanassery Junction. They were reportedly going from Vandanam to Alappuzha to watch a movie. Apart from Alvin, his five friends- Devananthan (19) from Kottakkal, Malappuram; Sreedev Valsan (19) from Sekharipuram, Palakkad; Ayush Shaji (19) from Chennadu, Kottayam; PP Mohammed Ibrahim PP (19) from Androth, Lakshadweep; Mohammed Abdul Jabbar (19) from Pandyala, Kannur were killed in the accident.
