Jifri Thangal, Sadiq Ali downplay differences after inconclusive Samastha-League meeting

Malappuram: The reconciliation meeting held in Malappuram to resolve the internal issues within the Samastha Kerala Jemiyyathul Ulama EK faction and the organisation's concerns with the IUML ended without a resolution due to the absence of an anti-League group within Samastha. However, both the leadership of Samastha and the IUML maintained that there were no factions within Samastha.

Samastha president Mohammed Jifri Muthukkoya Thangal stressed that the organisation has no dissident groups, and all members are part of the official faction. "The meeting provided an opportunity for guidance. While a few members cited inconvenience as the reason for their absence, another round of discussions will be scheduled soon. Such dialogues between Samastha and League leaders are routine. In a large family, occasional differences of opinion are natural and have always been resolved amicably. This is not a new occurrence, and even in the absence of issues, meetings are held to strengthen mutual understanding," Jifri Thangal explained.

Meanwhile, IUML state president Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal acknowledged the existence of differing opinions within the organisation but assured that all such matters would be resolved collectively. "There is no division into dissident and official factions, as everyone is part of the official group. Moving forward, all issues will be addressed comprehensively," he added.

Alongside Jifri Muthukkoya Thangal and Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal, MT Abdullah Musliyar and PK Kunhalikutty, who represented the Samastha-League leadership, were present. Representatives from the pro-League group, including Abdu Samad Pookkottur, Nassar Faizi Koodathayi, Saleem Edakkara, and Kutti Hassan Darimi, participated in the meeting.
