Kochi: Actor Bala, aka Balakumar, who was arrested on the complaint of his ex-wife, Amrutha Suresh, will move the High Court on Monday seeking to quash the case. Bala and his manager Rajesh, who were arrested this morning, are still at the Kadavanthra police station. Police said the actor may be produced in court by evening.

Bala's lawyer, Fathima Siddique, said an arrest could have been avoided in the case. "Bala cooperates with the police and would have appeared at the police station if he had been summoned for questioning. We have decided to approach the High Court seeking to quash the case," she said.

In her plaint, Amrutha accused Bala of insulting her through social media posts and claimed that his videos had emotionally harmed their daughter. She contended that Bala violated their divorce agreement, which prohibits personal taunts. "He is constantly disturbing me and my 12-year-old daughter, even giving paid online interviews about us," she added.

Bala and Rajesh were taken into custody from the actor’s flat in Kochi. According to Manorama News, the actor has been charged with outraging the modesty of a woman and faces additional charges under juvenile justice laws, all non-bailable.

Police registered the case on October 12, identifying three individuals as accused. Bala is the primary accused, followed by Rajesh as the second accused, and Ananthakrishnan, the founder of Film Factory, as the third accused.

Bala had previously alleged that Amrutha was preventing him from seeing their daughter. However, the girl later shared a video on Instagram detailing the emotional distress she and her mother experienced due to her father’s behaviour.
