Kochi: Police booked an Alappuzha man at the Kochi international airport (CIAL) after he, rather sarcastically, mentioned the word 'bomb' during an altercation with airport staffers here on Wednesday.
According to sources, the incident happened when the airport staffers were weighing in his luggage. He had arrived at the airport to board a flight to Dubai.
The airport staff pointed out that his luggage exceeded the permissible weight limit and checked it repeatedly.
Irked over the extensive security checking, the man sarcastically asked whether there was a bomb in his baggage.
But his sarcasm did not fly well with staffers who alerted security. Based on the information provided by the airport authorities, local police registered a case against the man.
"He was booked under the relevant section of the Kerala Police Act," a police officer said. It was a bailable offence, the officer added.
