Thiruvananthapuram: An 'ordinary' bus of the Kerala State Transport Corporation caught fire at Chembakamangalam on Saturday. No one was injured in the accident.
Manorama News reported the driver who noticed the smoke stopped the bus and asked the passengers deboard quickly. By the time all the passengers emptied from the bus, a huge fire engulfed the vehicle.
Subsequently fire force personnel who arrived at the spot doused the flames.

A source said swift action of the bus driver averted a major tragedy. The bus which was en route to the capital city from Attingal at the time of the mishap was crowded as Saturday is a working day for all offices. The blaze disrupted road traffic on the National Highway for a while.
The reason for the mishap is yet to be ascertained, reports said.
