Idukki: A charred remains of a young man was found tangled in chains near Chinnakanal here on Friday.
The man has been identified as Tarun, a resident of colony 301. He was 23.
The body was found tied to the window in a manger near Tarun's house. It is unclear if it is a case of murder or suicide.
Police has also recovered a kerosene can and a cane stick from the vicinity.
Apparently, a person who stayed in Tarun's house has gone missing after the incident came to light.
Tarun stayed at the house along with his mother Sara and grandmother Ammini.
The incident took place around 6:45 pm. Sara was with Tarun until an hour before the tragic incident. Later, she went to wash the clothes.
Ammini could not step out of her room due to age-related ailments.
According to the local police, neither Sara nor Ammini heard any strange noises during the time when the incident was purported to have taken place.
It was locals who discovered the body. The body will be shifted from the spot only after a detailed inspection by the forensic experts on Saturday.
Tarun, who had completed graduation from a college in Kottayam, had suffered a stroke one-and-a-half months ago.
He was undergoing treatment from home. He has one sister.
