On International Transgender Day of Visibility, a protest march carried out by a group of transgender persons resulted in a scuffle with cops near the Aluva Police Station.
The protesters alleged that male policemen pushed and shoved and recommended them for gender tests.
At least 30 transgender persons were part of the march that was stopped by the cops using barricades near the police station.
When the protesters tried to overcome the barricades, policewomen were assigned to refrain them.
Traffic was disrupted for at least two hours near the Aluva Police Station.
Later, Aluva DySP held talks with the protesters and assured them to look into the allegations.
The transgender persons were protesting alleged condescending behaviour of certain cops earlier this month. It is understood that a transgender person had complained about some people misbehaving at a bathing ghat three weeks ago.
However, they have alleged that a female SI attempted to examine them to determine their gender.
