Thiruvananthapuram: While the love-hate relationship between the Kerala government and Governor Arif Mohammed Khan continues, the state has accorded administrative sanction for the purchase of a new Mercedes-Benz car for the Raj Bhavan.
A government order in this regard was issued by the General Administration (Political) Department on Wednesday.
The purchase of the GLE 300d 4Matic LWB variant will cost the state exchequer Rs 85,18,000 (eighty five lakh eighteen thousand). The suggested colour is obsidian black.
The Principal Secretary to the governor had earlier sent a report prepared by the Assistant Engineer (Mechanical) & Garage Supervisor of Kerala Raj Bhavan to the state government saying "the present vehicle was more than 10 years old and has clocked over one lakh kilometres, which in turn leads to frequent repair works".
Hence, the Raj Bhavan had told the government that it was advisable to replace the vehicle. Subsequently, an invoice for the purchase of the new variant was furnished by the Raj Bhavan.
