Kozhikode: For the third time in a week an inmate of the mental health centre at Kuthiravattom here has fled. The latest incident is, however, reminiscent of the prison break in iconic Hollywood movie The Shawshank Redemption.

A woman from Wandoor in Malappuram district fled from the centre reportedly by breaking through the ventilation of the toilet, authorities reported.

She first soaked the old walls of the centre's toilet before digging through it using a plate.

In the movie, the protagonist, Andy, manages to escape his prison cell by digging through the wall using a rock hammer.

It is the third time this week that inmates have fled from the Kuthiravattom centre. The other day, a woman from Malappuram and a man from Nadakkavu here had run away in a similar way. The two were later found.

On February 10, a Maharashtra native, Jiyaram Jillot was found dead inside a cell allegedly as a result of a fight.
