Kochi: The Kerala High Court will consider the anticipatory bail pleas of Kochi POCSO case accused Anjali Reema Dev, hotel No 18 owner Roy Valayat and his partner Saiju Thankachan on February 21.
On the ongoing investigation into the case, the prosecution said no arrests will be made until the court has given a verdict on the bail pleas.
The police has handed over the case details to the High Court for their perusal.
Vayalat's lawyer alleged that police officers were needlessly creating a drama with the investigation.
He also accused the complainant of fabricating details. "She comes on TV every other day and says all the wrong things," the lawyer said.
The same tactic has been used before and the motive is almost always money, he added.
Earlier, the prosecution had urged the court to not consider the anticipatory bail pleas citing how the three were not cooperating with the case.
Anjali is absconding, says police
On Tuesday, the police informed that Anjali is absconding. A special investigation team has been formed under the leadership of District Crime Branch ACP Biji George to track her.
Every now and again, Anjali reappears on social media to continue her attack against the complainants through a flurry of social media posts.
In one such post the other day, she revealed the identity and phone numbers of the victims, all former employees of her company.
Anjali also released pictures of the alleged victims of the POCSO case attending a DJ party at Fort Kochi hotel to their relatives and prospective grooms.
She also denied having acquaintance with Roy Vayalat, the owner of hotel No 18.
The police is likely to press more charges on Anjali for revealing the victims' names.
The police also interrogated Saiju Thankachan, who allegedly drove young girls to the hotel, on Tuesday.
Roy Vayalat, the owner of No 18 hotel in Kochi, failed to appear for the questioning session on Tuesday owing to ill health.
Complainant's response
In response to Anjali's barrage, the complainants said that there was proper evidence to back their details whereas Anjali's were all baseless.
One of them also mentioned that Anjali's uncle had even threatened her in wake of the complaint.
The case
Anjali, Valayat and Thankachan were booked under the punishing POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act following the complaint of a Kozhikode woman.
The woman alleged that Vayalat had molested her 17-year-old daughter during a DJ party at his hotel on November 20, 2021, and that Anjali paved way for this abuse.
Since news of this emerged, more girls have come forward with complaints against Anjali.
They said she lures young girls by promising them work at her marketing consultancy in Kozhikode.
Girls working for her are preyed on often, said one of the complainants who worked at Anjali's firm for two and a half months.
Models death connection
The No 18 hotel has been in the news ever since two models were killed while returning from a DJ party there during the wee hours of November 1 last year.
According to one of the complainants, models Ansi Kabeer and Anjana Shajan were also brought to the Fort Kochi hotel - on the day of the accident and seven days before.
