Thiruvananthapuram: The state government is contemplating the shutting down of colleges in Kerala in the wake of the recent spike in COVID-19 cases.
Higher Education Minister R Bindu said that a COVID-19-review meeting that will convene on Thursday will take a call on the matter.
Kerala's daily tally of coronavirus cases has been increasing steadily with an increase of more than 100% recorded since last Tuesday.
As Kerala logged in excess of 20,000 cases in the last two days (28,481 on Tuesday), the government is examining the possibility of taking college education back to the online mode.
"If clusters emerge, the principals have been directed to close down the institutions for 15 days," said minister Bindu.
