Thiruvananthapuram: Former state information commissioner S Somanathan Pillai has reiterated that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of SilverLine should not be disclosed because it pertains to national security.
Pillai had earlier made the statement at a SilverLine explanation meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan raising eyebrows.
Responding to Manorama News, Pillai stood firm on his claim that the DPR must be kept under wraps until the project was implemented.
"Some information is classified and the ministry of civil aviation and ministry of defence can contest it. If that happens this project will be further delayed," Pillai said.
He also challenged former Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) managing director E Sreedharan, who had demanded that the state make the DPR public.
"He must explain if he had revealed classified information with regards to DMRC. He should show the courage to say that," Pillai said.
Sreedharan, popularly known as Metroman, had claimed that the LDF government was trying to fool the people by hiding facts.
"I prepared DPRs for at least 10 major projects and none of the DPRs were kept away from the public," Sreedharan had said.
