Alappuzha double murder: Section 144 extended in district till Wednesday

Alappuzha: The curfew which was in force in Kerala's Alappuzha district has been extended till 6am on Wednesday, December 22.

Section 144 was enforced in the district till 6am on Tuesday, December 21, following the two political murders in the district.

“The prohibitory order has been extended as the possibility of political clashes and communal violence still persists,” District Police Chief G Jayadev said.

Hours after SDPI state secretary K S Shan was hacked to death at Mannanchery in Alappuzha during twilight on December 18, BJP's OBC Morcha state secretary Ranjith Sreenivas was bludgeoned and hacked to death in front of his family early on December 19.
