3,757 new COVID cases in Kerala after 35,659 tests on Monday

Kerala reported 3,757 new COVID cases and 5,425 recoveries on Monday.

With this, the number of active cases in the state fell to 64,166.

Of the new cases, 3,272  had contracted the virus through contact while 76 had come from outside the state.

The infection source of 377 contact cases remain unclear.

The worst affected districts are Malappuram 1023, Kozhikode 514, Palakkad 331,

Malappuram, Kozhikode, Palakkad reported the most cases - 1,023, 514 and 331 respectively.

22 more COVID deaths

Twenty-two COVID deaths too were confirmed.

With this, COVID death toll rises to 2,071.

Though more deaths were reported, the State is yet to ascertain them as COVID deaths. Tests are underway at the National Institute of Virology in Alappuzha.

More healthworkers contract virus

Thirty-two healthworkers too contract the virus.

They include six each from Ernakulam, five from Thrissur and Thiruvananthapuram, four from Kannur, three from Kozhikode, two each from Pathanamthitta, Idukki and Malappuram districts, and one each from Kollam, Palakkad and Wayanad.

Recoveries

Kerala reported 5,425 recoveries on Monday.

With this, 5,00,089 have been cured of the virus in the state.

Testing and quarantine

A total of 3,14,543 people are under observation across the state. Of them, 2,98,395 are under home or institutional quarantine while 16,148 are in hospital. A total of 1,551 people were admitted in hospitals today.

35,659 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is 10.54. So far, a total of 58,92,900 samples have been sent for testing.
