Kasaragod: Kerala confirmed another COVID-19 death on Wednesday, taking the toll to 30.
The test result of Abdul Rahman, 52, who died on Tuesday, returned positive on Wednesday.
Rahman hailed from Mogral Puthur gram panchayat in Kasaragod district.
Rahman had come from Hubli in Karnataka in a car, along with three others. He had high fever when he reached the Kerala-Karnataka border in Talapady.
He was directly taken to the Government General Hospital in Kasaragod at 6 am. However, he breathed his last before being shifted to the emergency ward.
Rahman, a merchant, had earlier undergone surgery for heart related ailments.
He is survived by wife Ramla and four children
The health department has asked nine individuals - his co-passengers in the car, relatives who visited him at the hospital and the medical personnel who treated him -- to go into quarantine.
The emergency department at the hospital has been disinfected following Rahman's death.
Meanwhile, Sharafudeen, 67, a vegetable vendor from Kayamkulam, who had been under COVID-19 treatment at the Kollam Medical College Hospital, died on Wednesday. Sharafudeen and his daughter were admitted to the hospital after testing positive for the disease. Their source of infection is yet to be found.

Note: Though Mehraoof hailed from the Union Territory of Puducherry, his death has been included in Kerala's list based on a union government guideline, which stated that deaths should be accounted where it occurs irrespective of which state the person hailed from.
