Kochi: They had lost their father long ago. Now, their mother is also gone, leaving them orphans and on the verge of destitution.
15-year-old Swati and her twin brothers Krishna and Karthik of Edappally BTS Road lost their mother Latha due to damage to the blood vessels in her brain. Their father Sudhir S Menon had died years ago.
Now, there is no one to take care of the three children. Sudhir’s and Latha’s parents are no more. Swati, Krishna and Karthik are now with Sudhir’s younger brother. However, he is not in a position to support them for long and can only provide temporary care.
Swati is a 10th standard student at Pius Girls High School in Edappally, while Krishna and Karthik are in the ninth class at St George’s High School. All the three are good students, but the death of Latha has now put a question mark on their education.
Latha was staying with her children in a rented house in Kakkanad. She brought her children up with the limited amount she earned by taking tuition classes.
She decided to work from home as she did not want to go for a job by leaving her children alone. Her friends and relatives helped Latha during any crisis, but now they are clueless on how to ensure the children have constant long-term support for them to continue with their education and life.
A committee has been formed under Ernakulam MLA TJ Vinod and the local councillor to look at ways to help the children. The committee can be reached over the phone. The phone number is: 9847057257.
