NDA picks Kottayam BJP chief N Hari to contest at Pala

N Hari was also the NDA candidate at Pala during the state assembly polls in 2016.

Kottayam: Kottayam Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) district president N Hari would be the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate for the crucial Pala bypoll, which would be held on September 23.

The BJP’s central leadership had announced the NDA candidate for the Pala bypoll, which was necessitated after the demise of Kerala Congress (M) supremo K M Mani in April. Hari was also the NDA candidate at Pala during the state assembly polls in 2016.

The NDA meeting held at Pala on Friday had decided to field a BJP leader for the upcoming bypoll. The three names that came up during the NDA meet were submitted to the BJP central committee.

The NDA's Pala election convention would begin at Pala by 3pm on September 6.

The NDA district leadership would be held at 4pm on Wednesday. The panchayat-level conventions would be held on September 8, 9 and 10.

The United Democratic Front has decided to field Kerala Congress (M) veteran Jose Tom Pulikunnel for the Pala Assembly byelection.

The Left Democratic Front announced Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Mani C Kappan as its candidate a few days ago.
