Thiruvananthapuram: All districts except Wayanad will see severely hot weather until Sunday, the weather department has said. Kerala State Disaster Management Authority has advised utmost caution since temperatures could rise 3 degree above normal. Schools and colleges should avoid special classes during this period.
On Friday, 109 people sustained sunburn across the state, with Alappuzha topping the list (27). Kozhikode (18), Kollam (15), Ernakulam (14), Kottayam (10), Thrissur (9), Kannur (8), Palakkad (5), Idukki (3), Malappuram (1) also registered such cases.
A buffalo died of sunstroke in Mannar, Alappuzha. A traffic policeman in Thrissur and a 12-year-old boy in Kottayam sustained burns.
Others who were hit by sunstroke include Movin Thomas (12) from Manarkkad, Raju (56) from Changanasseri, Aby (29) from Pala, Sundar Raj (41) Pambady, Ajith (25) from Manarkkad, Thankamma (72) from Kumarakom, Aneeshmon (39) from Meenachil, Prasobh S Nair (29) from Kanjirappally, Joseph (67) from Koruthodu and PK Sajikumar (54) from Karukachal.
