When worn-out tyres turn into flower pots

Thrissur: Old tyres and broken plastic utensils can either become mosquitos' breeding ground or creatively converted into flowerpots. The menace of plastic waste could be transformed into something meaningful such as flower vases, pots and garden décor with a little imagination.

Old tyres are now being used to even create artworks. Such pieces can be source of additional income for homemakers and Kudumbashree workers.

Children can take it up as a hobby during summer breaks.

The High-tech Research and Training Unit under Dr P Susheela’s guidance provides training in it at the campus of Kerala Agricultural University, Vellanikkara.

Farmers and students too can participate.
