Thiruvananthapuram: True to his word, Suresh Gopi MP on Thursday handed over the financial aid to Viji, wife of Sanal, who met with a tragic end at Neyyattinkara. Suresh Gopi reached the spot in front of the Secretariat where Viji is staging a protest and gave her Rs 3 lakh for repaying a loan.

The MP had earlier revealed his intention to help Sanal's family. He also promised to find ways to repay a loan availed offering their house as collateral. With the repayment not taking place, the debt mounted to Rs 35 lakh and the family was served with an eviction notice.

“The reported offer from the government to support the family based on certain conditions is condemnable. The chief minister should take a decision on this matter,” said Suresh Gopi.

On the night of November 5, DySP Harikumar pushed Sanal Kumar in front of a speeding vehicle at Kodungavila near Neyyattinkara. Sanal Kumar died on the way to the hospital. The DySP, with the help of his friend Binu, fled the spot and had been on the run.

Harikumar who was on the run for nine days was found hanging in his house at Veyloor on November 13.
