Two SDPI men found guilty in Youth League activist's murder

Kozhikode: Two Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) activists have been found guilty in the murder of Muslim Youth League worker Naseerudheen Puthalath at Velom in Kozhikode.

The sentence for first accused Basheer Kappacheri and second accused Anthru Kolliyil will be pronounced by additional district sessions judge on Thursday. Five other accused were acquitted by the court.

Naseerudheen was stabbed to death on July 15, 2016, near Velom, while he was travelling on a bike with his relative Abdul Raoof. Naseerudheen was stopped and stabbed, resulting which he fell on the road and died, according to witnesses. The political enmity between the two parties was said to be the reason behind the murder.
