New Delhi: The Supreme Court collegium has recommended five names for appointment as judges in the Kerala High Court. They are: Kerala Judicial Academy Director T V Anilkumar, High Court Registrar General N. Anilkumar and advocates V G Arun, N. Nagaresh and P V Kunjikrishnan.

The High Court had sent to the Supreme Court a list of seven lawyers and two judicial officers to be considered for appointment as judges. The collegium did not recommend P Gopal from the list as his income from five years as a lawyer did not fall within the stipulated limits. It has been recorded in the minutes that S Ramesh, Viju Abraham and George Varghese will be considered later for appointment.

T V Anilkumar is the son of K. Thankappan Nair of Uzhiyarikunnu, Thiruvananthapuram. N Anilkumar is from Pulimath, Kilimanoor, and is the son of Kulaviyode Natesan. Both of them had entered the state judicial service in the post of munsiff in 1991, and later became district judges.

A G Arun is the son of late T K G Nair, who was a Malayala Manorama columnist and chairman of the Kerala Press Academy.

N Nagaresh belongs to Panthallur Madhathil at Vaikom, and is the son of Narasimha Naik. P V Kunjikrishnan is the son of film actor P V Unnikrishnan Namboodiri of Pulleri Vadhyar Illam, Chalakode, Payyannur. Arun, Nagaresh and Kunjikrishnan enrolled as advocates in 1989.
