'Stranded' man flags down helicopter, takes a selfie and says bye

'You should act like a human being in times like this,' squadron leader Ron Robert said.

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala needs to be rescued from its selfie seekers. An Air Force officer who returned from a rescue mission in the flooded areas of the state recounted a shameful incident when a young man flagged down a helicopter only to take a selfie with the personnel!

The Air Force team was involved in a difficult rescue mission in a marooned area when one of them spotted a youngster waving his shirt to attract the rescuers’ attention. The pilot landed the chopper near him with great difficulty. When the personnel got down and tried to usher in the man, he took out his mobile phone and clicked a selfie. He then told the personnel that they were free to go.

“You should act like a human being in times like this. You should think about the loss of fuel and the loss of time. We are losing valuable time when we could have rescued really needy people,” squadron leader Ron Robert said.
