Palakkad: Seven people were killed and four others injured in a landslide at Athanadu, near Nemmara, in Palakkad district on Thursday following torrential rain. At least four were reported missing and three houses got washed away. The rescue operations are under way under the supervision of the Nelliyampathy forest officers.
The deceased were identified as Gangadharan Cherumkadu, 55, wife Subhadra, 50, daughter Athira, 24, Athira's two-year-old son, Abhijith, 25, Arya, 17, and Anitha, 28.
The injured have been identified as Akhila, 25, Kalyani, 60, Sunitha, 37, Manikantan, 47, and Praveen, 34.
Reports of a landslide have also come in from Thrissur district and a few people are said to be missing, sources said.
