Donate liberally to Kuttanad flood relief

Alappuzha: Kerala has joined hands to extend the much-needed support to people of flood-ravaged Kuttanad and adjoining areas as they face the worst calamity in half a century.

Malayala Manorama's initiative to extend a helping hand to submerged Kuttanad has received overwhelming support from several quarters.

Lulu Group chairman and managing director M A Yusuf Ali has announced a donation of Rs 1 crore. This aid to the Manorama-sponsored “Koodeyund, Naadu” (The state is with you) project will be handed over on Friday.

Kalyan Jewellers Group chairman and managing director T S Kalyanaraman has promised Rs 50 lakh.

Actor Jayaram and his wife Parvathi donated Rs 2.5 lakh worth new clothes and drinking water to the Malayala Manorama project. Parvathi herself visited selected camps on Wednesday to distribute the clothes.

Kozhikode-based Boby Books Exam Winner has passed on Rs 1 lakh to the Manorama scheme.

Food items and drinking water will be distributed at nearly 20 camps in Kuttanad on Tuesday. Items include grocery, vegetables, and other food products.
