Kottayam: Aleesha Sainilladdeen, a young woman hailing from Mundakkayam in Kottayam district, wants missing student Jesna Maria James to come back at the earliest. The reason? She is fed up with being mistaken as the missing student.

Aleesha's striking resemblance to Jesna, especially with a similar spectacles and braces on her teeth, has prompted many doubt her to be Jesna, the college student who has been missing since March 22.

Jesna said she had to face the suspicion of several people over the past few weeks. "Some people refuse to believe me even if I reveal my identity," she told Manorama News. Two weeks ago, even a police team stopped Aleesha when she was at Mundakkayam town with her friends. The incident made her realise the seriousness of the matter.

Things became difficult for the girl after the police revealed that they have retrieved CCTV visuals from a shop in Mundakkayam, in which a woman resembling Jesna was seen on March 22.

Jesna, a second-year BCom student at St Dominic's College, Kanjirappally, went missing, while on her way from her house in Vechoochira in Pathanamthitta district, to her aunt's house near Mundakkayam. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted by the state police to investigate the case.

The SIT could not get any clear evidence in the matter despite carrying out a thorough investigation in the case, questioning 250 persons and recording the statements of 130 people.

The police said they had also analysed nearly 1,00,000 telephone calls.
