Thiruvananthapuram: KSRTC, the state-owned bus service, is introducing ‘fly bus’ services from all airports in Kerala to the nearest cities. The buses will be air-conditioned and will have several specialities, including:
1. On time operations
2. Proper maintenance offering clean interiors.
3. Warm interaction by staff.
4. Facility to carry luggage free of cost up to a limit.
5. Ultramodern air conditioning system.
The departure time of the buses will be displayed at the airport and city/central bus stand. The schedules have been arranged considering the arrival and departure of flights. Though it was planned to deploy 21-seater mini buses, 42-seater buses will be in service considering the huge number of passengers.
While there will be a bus every 45 minutes from Thiruvananthapuram airport round the clock, the interval is one hour from Kozhikode Karipur airport. From Nedumbassery airport, fly buses will start every 30 minutes.
In Kerala, fly bus operations will be supervised by executive director C V Rajendran.
Fly bus services will subsequently be introduced from airports to tourist spots in Kerala. In future, facilities for checking in at the bus stands itself will be launched with the cooperation of various airlines. The bus fare will be that of AC low floor buses. Passengers will not have to bear the additional surcharge imposed at airports.
The state-level flag off of fly buses will take place at Thiruvananthapuram international airport at 4.30 pm on Tuesday.
