NS Madhavan rips apart AMMA for Dileep 'retake'

The decision the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) to take back actor Dileep to the body has not been well received by a few quarters.

The latest to make a comment on the controversial decision made by AMMA is noted Malayalam writer NS Madhavan. Referring to the popular #MeToo global movement against sexual harassment, he laughed at the move as well as the case involving Dileep as #MeToo incidents.

“Worst #MeToo incident happened not in Hollywood, but in Kerala, when an actor allegedly paid money to a gang to get an actress raped. The case is on, but male chauvinist pigs of Malayalam actors’ guild, AMMA, are shouting ‘me too’ ‘me too’ in support of the accused!” (sic), he tweeted.

Actor Dileep is the eighth accused in a case of kidnapping and sexual assault of a popular Malayalam actress. AMMA had expelled Dileep after he was arrested in the case in July last year. He is currently on bail and faces charges of conspiracy and influencing witnesses.
