Nagercoil: Saritha S Nair, who gained notoriety through Kerala's high-profile solar scam, is eyeing a spot in Tamil Nadu politics.
Saritha on Saturday met leaders of Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam, the party formed by TTV Dhinakaran after he was sidelined in the AIADMK.
Saritha conveyed his wish to party leader K T Pachaimal at a meeting with him at Thammanathu Konam near here.
Pachaimal said he would inform the party leadership about the matter and a final decision will be taken by the top brass. A former minister, Pachaimal is an MLA representing Kanyakumari constituency.
Saritha had shifted her base to Tamil Nadu after her attempts to establish a solar power firm in Kerala suffered a backlash in the aftermath of the solar scam and embroiled her in protracted legal battles.
She was also trying to set up a new business based at Thakkala near Kanyakumari. However, her attempts were reportedly thwarted by the Congress, which had to face huge embarrassment after Saritha accused several leaders of the party of bribery and sexual misconduct.
Dhinakaran announced the for mation of his new party on March 15 after he lost ground in the AIADMK following the demise f J Jayalalithaa and the imprisonment of his aunt V K Sasikala.
He won the RK Nagar byelection by a margin of 40,707 votes, defeating his nearest rival E Madhusudhanan of the AIADMK. The constituency was left vacant by the death of Jayalalithaa.
