Wife alleges husband's abduction after love marriage

The police have found that the woman’s relatives had attacked the house as they opposed the alliance between her and Kevin.

Kottayam: A ‘love’ marriage conducted at Ettumanur registration office on Friday led to dramatic developments. The bride has now approached Gandhinagar police station seeking action against an armed gang, which she said had abducted her husband. The woman, along with her husband’s friend and relatives, who reached the police station with the complaint, alleged that the police were failing to act citing non-availability of personnel owing to the visit of chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

Meanwhile, a youth who had been abducted along with the bridegroom was severely thrashed by the gang and abandoned on the road. He had given the registration number of the vehicle used by the gang to the police. Still, there was no action. The SI said that police will investigate the matter after the visit of the chief minister.

The youth, Kevin (23), and the woman were followed by the gang after their wedding. The goons later attacked the house of the youth and caused widespread damage. They also abducted Kevin and a relative, Aneesh (30), belonging to Kalambukattuchira in Mannanam.

The police have found that the woman’s relatives had attacked the house as they opposed the alliance between her and Kevin. They said that the woman belonged to Thenmala in Kollam. Though the police contacted the gang over phone, they got the reply that Kevin had jumped out of the car and escaped at Pathanapuram. Officials said that a search had been launched for Kevin as well as the gang.

Meanwhile, the woman is continuing her protest at the police station accusing the police of not taking any action to trace her husband. Aneesh said that Kevin had been taken to Punalur. According to him, when they reached Thenmala, he told the goons that he felt like throwing up. He was then let out of the vehicle, said Aneesh. But goons in two other cars thrashed him. They said that he would be freed only if he brought back the woman to them. When Aneesh agreed to do so, the goons stopped beating him and let him go.

Aneesh, who suffered severe injuries on his face in the attack, has been admitted to the medical college hospital.

The police were informed about the vehicle, which was an Innova with a Thiruvananthapuram registration number. The woman’s relatives told Aneesh that Kevin had escaped from another vehicle. In her complaint, the woman said that the abduction and attack on the house had been planned by her brother. Even after all these developments, the police have adopted a lackadaisical attitude.
