Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Monday ordered the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to conduct re-examination for class 10 Mathematics for a girl who had complained of getting old question paper.
The court issued the order on a petition filed by Amiya Salim, a student of Mount Carmel Vidyaniketan, Kottayam. The court said the issued should be resolved before the evaluation process ends.
Amiya had complained that the question paper she received for the Mathematics examination was from 2016.
She moved the high court seeking re-examination after she did not receive any response from the CBSE's regional office in Thiruvananthapuram.
Reacting to the court order, an elated Amiya said she would giving a fitting g reply to (the callous attitude of) the CBSE with higher marks. She realised that the question paper was old when she was discussing the paper with her friends after the exam.
Amiya got the question paper that her brother Althaf had attempted in 2016. She had written the exam at Navodaya school at Vadavathoor, near Kottayam town, and had informed the school authorities about the anomaly.
The school management later complained to the CBSE's regional office.
The CBSE has announced retest for class 12 Economics and 10 Mathematics after it was found that the question papers for the subjects had leaked. Though the board had announced that retest will be conducted for class 10 Mathematics if needed, it cancelled the decision later.
