Nehru College posters: SFI leader's FB post justifying harassment disappears

A group of SFI students at the Nehru Arts and Science College, Padannakad, in Kasaragod, allegedly prepared an ‘obituary’ for their principal Dr P V Pushpaja on her retirement day: File photo

Kasaragod: An Student Federation of India (SFI) district committee member has posted a Facebook comment expressing happiness over the way the Dr P V Pushpaja, principal of Nehru College, Kanhangad was harassed on her retirement day.

The controversial post was deleted soon after the post garnered attention exposing the involvement of SFI.

The Facebook post praising the students was put up by Anees Muhammed, who was accused by the principal of leading the students harassing her during her send-off function.

The federation's college unit's Facebook page too has severe criticisms against the retiring principal and Anees' post was shared there too.

In the post titled 'Why Pushpaja teacher?’, he wrote that it was impossible to hide the joy at getting her out of that post.

A "chargesheet" listing the accusations against the principal is also being circulated on social media by SFI members.

It was prepared by Sarath Chandran, who led a group of students who burst firecrackers during the sent-off party.

At the same time, the college union chairperson has come out against the students who harassed the principal.

The state president of the SFI also pitched in saying that the federation would take action against those students who are primary members of the federation.

But it is yet to take action against Sarath despite he being an SFI member.

The students had celebrated the principal’s retirement by bursting crackers and offering condolences.
