Pinarayi visits Madhu's family, promises all help

Madhu was 'captured' from the cave where he was staying and assaulted by a group of people at Kadukumanna hamlet in Attappadi on February 22.

Palakkad: Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday visited the family of Madhu, a tribal youth who was lynched by a mob at Attapadi.

Pinarayi told Madhu's mother, Malli, that the government would take all steps to ensure justice to the family. He also promised action against those who indulged in a smear campaigns against the late youth on social media. The chief minister was accompanied by minister K K Shailaja; M B Rajesh, MP; and MLAs A Shamsudheen and P K Sasi.

Madhu was 'captured' from the cave where he was staying and assaulted by a group of people at Kadukumanna hamlet in Attappadi on February 22. He died when he was being taken to the police station. As many as 16 people were arrested and remanded in connection with the incident.

The Kerala High Court has registered a case suo motu after the lynching.
