Saritha's letter had 21 pages not 25, ex-jail official tells court

Saritha had stated that the letter had 25 pages. With the statement of the jail superintendent, the fake letter case is now at a new crossroads.

Kottarakkara: The letter that was found from solar scam accused Saritha S Nair when she was lodged in Pathanamthitta district jail had 21 pages, former Pathanamthitta district jail superintendent Vishwanathakurup told the Kottarakkara first class judicial magistrate in his statement.

The letter was handed over to lawyer Feni Balakrishnan on the request of Saritha. These details have been registered in the jail documents.

The statements were taken during the hearing of a petition filed by former Kollam district public prosecutor Sudhir Jacob alleging that Saritha and KB Ganesh Kumar MLA conspired to forge a letter in order to bring down the Oommen Chandy government.

Saritha had stated that the letter had 25 pages. With the statement of the jail superintendent, the fake letter case is now at a new crossroads.

The copies of jail interview register, and receipts were submitted in the court, which ordered them to be presented in original on January 29.

The letter was found on July 21, 2013, when Saritha was searched on her return to the Pathanamthitta district jail after appearing in the Ernakulam ACJM court.

When asked about the letter, Saritha had said that it was to be given to lawyer Feni Balakrishnan. Since she wanted it to be handed over to Feni Balakrishnan in order to fight the case, it was registered in the jail documents and given to Feni Balakrishnan on July 24, 2013.

The details of phone calls between Ganesh Kumar and Saritha and their locations were also submitted in the court by Sudhir Jacob. The next hearing is posted for January 29.
