As the one-man protest by Sreejith, a Kerala native seeking justice for his brother who was killed in police custody, entered 766 day Monday, more celebrities have thrown their weight behind him.
The youth, who had been sitting in front of the Secretariat for the past two years, found support pouring for him from various quarters over the past few days with even young Malayalam actor Tovino Thomas visiting him at the protest site Sunday and pledging support for him.
Tovino Thomas, who came to the protest venue to offer his support, said that Sreejith's stir is something that the whole Malayali community, including himself, has conveniently ignored till now.
On Sunday, Malayalam actor Prithviraj too has come out in support of Sreejith on social media. “You singlehandedly represent the most valuable human faculty of modern times. One that we are fast losing... and one that we have ceased to respect," he tweeted.
Actor Parvathy too tweeted support for the protest. “Sreejith, I am with you in your fight for what's rightfully yours. No one deserves to be kept in the dark and denied justice. Your resilience and resoluteness to honor your brother's life is the inspiration we need. This is a rebellion that we have to do against ourselves," she said.
But it was not the film stars, who have come out in support for the lone man's cause, Kerala Blasters player CK Vineeth dedicated his side's win in the Indian Super League (ISL) match on Sunday to Sreejith. Vineeth made the comment while talking to media after the Blasters defeated Mumbai City FC.
