Parvathy's complaint on cyber-bullying: Police arrest Thrissur native

The actress had filed a complaint against cyber-bullying she had to face after she termed 'Kasaba' a ‘misogynistic’ movie.

Kochi: In a new twist to the controversy over award-winning actress Parvathy's remarks against Mammootty-starrer 'Kasaba' and the trolls that followed, the Kerala police have arrested one person for bullying her on social media.

The actress had filed a complaint against cyber-bullying she had to face after she termed 'Kasaba' a 'misogynistic' movie. Wadakkanchery native Printo was arrested on Wednesday and more arrests are likely, police said.

The actress had filed the complaint with DGP Loknath Behera on Tuesday, saying she has been facing cyber bullying after she criticized certain dialogs in the movie. The Kochi cybercell is investigating the case. The actress' complaint stated that people threatened her on social media and carried out a smear campaign against her. She has reportedly handed over details of those who bullied her online, including screenshots of the trolls.

Parvathy’s comments at an open forum as part of the recently concluded International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) about the ‘misogynistic’ dialogues in 'Kasaba' had created uproar on social media.

Even though the Women in Cinema Collective and other people had come forward to support the actress, the attacks in the online world continued unabated.
