Kochi: The High Court has ordered the arrest of Kerala Water Authority (KWA) managing director A. Shainamol. The state police chief has been asked to produce the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer in court on Monday.
A bench headed by the acting chief justice had ordered Shainamol to be present in person in the court on Friday in connection with a contempt case. However, instead of appearing, the official filed a plea seeking exemption from personal appearance. The court rejected that request and ordered her arrest.
KWA contractors Engineering Projects India Limited (EPIL), headquartered in Chennai, had filed the contempt petition against Shainamol. The complaint from the firm says that she ignored a court order to increase its contract money.
