Thalassery: Police have arrested the maternal uncle of actress Pranathi Jose for allegedly threatening her with a loaded gun and resorting to physical violence. Aravind Ratnakar (Unni), 38, was arrested based on the actress' complaint. He has been remanded by the First Class Magistrate here.

According to Pranathi's complaint, the incident happened on Monday evening when she visited her grandfather K.P. Ratnakaran at his home on Holloway Road here. She was attending her ailing grandfather along with her mother, Ratnaprabha, when Aravind barged into the house and pointed a loaded gun at her and her mother. Pranathi said that they came to Thalassery from Chennai several weeks ago to take care of Ratnakaran.

"It's been a routine to attend to grandpa everyday and return home by night," she claimed adding that Aravind was intolerant towards her and mother. She also said that they were physically assaulted. "We had no other option but to turn to the police," she said.

The police said family issues triggered the incident.
