Munnar: A wild elephant, that had strayed into inhabited areas and caused considerable damage before being chased away using an earth-mover, was found dead Tuesday. Following the discovery of the carcass, the police seized the earth-mover .

For the last three months, the tusker had been creating trouble in the area.

The wild elephant had destroyed vehicles and damaged the gate of a CSI church. It even tried to attack a salesman, who abandoned his bike and fled.

After digging his trunk into the petrol tank of the bike, the tusker walked into a factory complex and created a stand-off, preventing the employees from entering the campus. Then the earth-mover was used to chase away the animal. However, it is suspected that the tusker could have sustained injuries when it was being driven away using the machine.
