Banasura Sagar

Wayanad: The bodies of three of the four men who went missing in Banasura Sagar dam on Sunday have been recovered.

The bodies of Sachin Chandran, 20; Melwin, 34; and Wilson, 50, were found floating near the spot from where they went missing, the police said, adding that search was on for the fourth person, Binu. Two bodies were fished out on Wednesday evening and one on Thursday.

They went missing while fishing in the dam on a coracle which capsized Sunday night. There were seven people in the team and three of them swam to safety. The team set out for fishing in the dam without obtaining permission from authorities.

The police and fire and rescue services personnel have been trying to find the bodies since Monday morning. Though Indian Naval divers joined the rescue operations Tuesday evening, it could not be continued due to poor light and bad weather, the police said.
