Kochi: Actor Dileep was a solitary conspirator, if reports are to be believed. Reports say he kept even his confidantes out of the planning process while targeting the young actress who was abducted and assualted in a moving car on February 17.
Dileep's manager Appunni and his friend Nadhirshah, both very close to the actor, have so far enjoyed an exonerated status due to lack of evidence proving their part in the conspiracy or execution of the crime. But police sources said they would look at their possible involvement in the later stages of the crime.
Technology experts roped in
The investigation team has roped in information technology experts to dig out and analyze digital evidence against the culprits. State police chief Loknath Behera and other senior officers of the investigation team would hold a meeting in this regard in Thiruvananthapuram Wednesday. Incriminating evidence had been secured from a memory card that was handed over to an advocate by prime accused Pulsar Suni before he was nabbed. The police said the card contained gruesome images and videos of the hapless actress being molested by multiple assaulters.
More arrests soon
Indicating that more arrests would soon follow, the police said they would interrogate advocate Pratheesh Chacko once again, especially after the emergence of more evidence following the interrogation of Dileep.
The police found that an opposition MLA from Ernakulam district had called Suni on his mobile number several times. Investigators will try to identify why he made the calls, sources said.
There had been demands from various quarters to investigate whether the actor was involved in similar blackmail and threat activities in the past. The demand assumed significance as prominent film personalities had come out in the open criticizing Dileep for his violent ways of silencing opponents and dissenters.
Police sources said Dileep's links to Pulsar Suni was also being probed thoroughly. The police were looking at a few instances of human trafficking in which Pulsar Suni was involved. The police would look into how an actor got to be so close to a history-sheeter and known offender like Pulsar Suni.
The Enforcement Directorate was also moving to get Dileep's bank accounts frozen after the police flagged the agency on the actor's shady deals, some involving a Dubai-based black money racket and benami land deals in Kerala.
