Noted Malayalam actor 'Munshi' Venu

Chalakudy: Noted Malayalam actor 'Munshi' Venu passed away at a private hospital here in the wee hours of Thursday. He was 63.

The actor, who became popular through a tele-show 'Munshi,' was suffering from kidney ailments. He was best known for his roles in Chotta Mumbai, Salt 'n' Pepper, Kanyaka Talkies, Immanuel and Daddy Cool.

A veteran actor with more than 75 movies in Mollywood, Venu carved a niche for himself through his poignant performances in seemingly minor roles.

Originally from Thiruvananthapuram,Venu remained unmarried and was staying at a private lodge in Chalakudy for the past 10 years.

Despite being a prominent face in the movies, Venu could not make much financial gains and struggled to find money for his treatment. Actor Mammootty and upcoming actor Rajeev Pillai had offered some financial support for the elderly man.

Many from the industry including actor Dulquer Salmaan paid their tributes to the actor.
