last 24 hours, data from the health ministry showed on Sunday, even as the spread moderated in western states such as Maharashtra.

Deaths from COVID-19 rose by 918 in the last 24 hours to 108,334, the ministry said.

The total number of recoveries in the country also crossed 60 lakh, according to the ministry.

Kerala, which reported the first case in the country, reported 11,755 fresh infections, it's highest in 24 hours, on Saturday and 23 new fatalities, taking the caseload to 2,77,855.
