Salem: A father and mother in Kondalampatti killed their daughter for falling in love with a Dalit boy and hung themselves. Weaver Rajkumar (43) and Shanthi (32) and daughter Ramya Loshini (19) were found hanging in their house. An autopsy later revealed that Ramya was in fact killed.
Neighbours found the bodies yesterday morning. Initially suspected to be honour suicides, autopsy revealed that Ramya was asphyxiated. The youth, a bus employee, who reached the spot was questioned by the police. He claimed Ramya's parents were against their relationship.
Ramya was a second year engineering student at a Salem college. She might have been killed during a quarrel with her parents the last day, informed the police. The family is survived by their son, Lokanadhan, a plus-two student.
