Gift box for Diwali

Cuddalore: A newly married Tamil man was presented with an 'expensive gift' by his friends during a post-marriage function here.

The bunch of young men trooped in with five litres of petrol, neatly packed in a large can when the newly-wed was busy ushering in guests to his reception along with his wife.

Amid laughter and surprise, the man received the gift, showed a 39-second video clip telecast by the 'Puthiya Thalaimurai' Tamil television channel.

Petrol price touched Rs 85.15 per litre in Tamil Nadu, one of the highest in the country.

The jovial bunch of friends later told the channel that they really felt that the commodity had become something very valuable, even fit to be a wedding gift.
