When it comes to tippers, Ashok Leyland is the real Boss. Launched as part of its Boss series of trucks, the Leyland Boss 913 comes with a stronger engine, higher mileage and modern cabin.
History: Ashok Leyland is literally the history of vehicle manufacturing in India. Ashok Leyland has been an active presence in truck manufacturing in the country for the past seven decades. Starting off with British technology, it rode piggyback on Japanese and Italian excellence to evolve into a leading Indian commercial vehicle manufacturer.
Fourth largest: Ashok Leyland is the fourth largest manufacturer of buses and the 10th largest manufacturer of trucks in the world. It is also the second largest commercial vehicle manufacturer in India. Its line-up of buses includes those with a capacity of 10 seats to 74 seats and trucks from 1.5 tonnes to 49 tonnes.
Tipper king: Leyland tippers do not need any publicity. Its Taurus model has come to define all large tippers; the brand is that strong. The Boss is the new addition to this line-up of tippers.
New fleet: The Boss is targeted in the tipper segment that is integral to the construction industry. In a competitive segment that also consists Eicher, Mazda and Tata, Leyland drives in the Boss with a lot of novelties.
Wild beauty: The heavy-duty bumper helps the tipper to tackle rough terrain with ease. The modern hydraulic tiltable cabin looks good, has strong build quality and good finish. Windows and side mirrors are large, offering good outside view.
Driver comfort: The seats are wide and well-cushioned. The driver seat offers support similar to that of cars. Other features include tilt steering, large meter console, a quality dashboard and door pads. There is an option to fit AC, music system and a USB type mobile charger.
Powerful: The tipper is powered by a powerful engine developed by Ashok Leyland using intelligent exhaust gas re-circulation technology. The unit churns out 130 bhp and 450 Nm. Besides narrow roads in the city, the tipper can easily negotiate the twisty ghat roads.
Load carrier: Compared to its rivals, the Boss has more load-carrying capacity – 10.7 tons. Besides, it has more loading space too - 150 to 180 cubic feet, which means in a single trip it can carry more load than its competitors. Since the tipper has a smaller turning radius, the vehicle can be tighter turns on narrower roads too.
Hassle free: The six-speed transmission makes driving hassle free. The gears slot perfectly. The heavy-duty rear axle helps the tipper to carry more load and offer better performance. The rear suspension duty is taken care of by a two-layer 21-leaf system. Shock absorbers in the front with anti-roll bar parabolic heavy-duty suspension aids drive balance on bumpy roads.
Mileage: Another attraction of the tipper is its high fuel efficiency. The company also offers immediate response in case of calls regarding maintenance/repair. The service team will reach the spot within four hours of receiving the call, claims the company. Ashok Leyland has 25 outlets in Kerala.
Why Boss?
A powerful engine, good load-carrying capacity, modern cabin, good build quality, high mileage and better service facilities combine to make the Boss a compelling offer. No doubt, Ashok Leyland is the Boss in the segment.
