A Malayali woman will vie to represent the US in the Miss World contest. Miss India New York, Meera Thankam Mathew, will contest in the Miss World America contest, a stepping stone for Miss World– She will represent New York on the banner of New York’s Miss Liberty title.

Meera Thankam Mathew, who lives in New York’s Staten Island, hails from Pathanamthitta in Kerala. She is the daughter of John Mathew of Charivukala, Kaipatoor and Raji Mathew of Adoor.

Meera, who came to the US at the age of 3, is also a former Miss Staten Island winner. She is an IT professional associated with healthcare firm Northwell.

Despite her professional commitments and busy schedule, Meera finds time for modelling, participating in beauty contests, and dance, which are her main hobbies. Meera thinks that her greatest asset is the capability to handle herself appropriately, a key prospect that has propelled her successes.

Juggling between her studies and her work commitments, Meera follows her passion as suggested by her mentor, Archana Phillip, who is also a Malayalai. Jansu, also from her home state, is among her close circle of friends.

This relentless commitment has won her many achievements. She participated as the poster girl in Dulhan Expo, New York’s grand bridal show. The choreographer of this show curated by Sumit Artya was Karamjit Singh. Malayali photographer John Martin was the photographer of the Expo.

From her childhood, Meera dreamt of becoming a cop. After high school she almost clinched that aspiration. But after she realised that it was an IT professional that would suit her pursuit of excellence in the fashion industry, she changed course.
