Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Health Minister K K Shailaja, who has won global attention for her efficiency in combating viral infections in Kerala earlier and the COVID-19 pandemic, has been featured on the cover of Vogue India magazine's special edition.
The minister has been featured on the list of 'Women of 2020' in the November edition of the magazine. The tribute to the minister is based on her successful campaign against Nipah virus in 2018 and the success in containing COVID-19 in the state in the initial stages.
Shailaja has been included in the 'Leader of the Year' section. The winner will be announced later this month. The magazine has also published an interview with the minister.
A global name in fighting the coronavirus, Shailaja was invited as a speaker to the United Nations Public service Day in June - the only invitee from India to the forum.
Shailaja was in global limelight earlier too when she was crowned the winner of the World’s Top 50 Thinkers List 2020 by the UK-based Prospect Magazine.
As the winning thinker of the COVID-19 age she had pipped New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern who secured the second spot on the list.
As on Monday Kerala reported 3,593 new coronavirus positive cases after 32,489 tests. The state also registered 5,983 recoveries on he same day.
