The third day of Riviera’2019, the annual International Sports and Cultural Carnival hosted at the Vellore Institute of Technology at its sprawling sports ground on Saturday, was a resplendent display of art and culture from different parts of the world.

More than 120 artistes from different nations danced and sang to the tunes played by instrumental musicians at the colourful event.


Artistes from Nepal, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Maldives, Kenya, Mozambique and Ethiopia enthralled students through their traditional and popular dances.

Artistes from China, Cambodia, Italy, France, Rumania, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria and Oman entertained the students through a combination of instrumental music, songs and dances. Artistes from Portugal, Brazil and Palestine recited poems and delivered speeches conveying poignant social messages.


Indian artistes, including those from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab staged musical, vocal and dance performances depicting the diverse cultures of the land.

Nehal Chudasama, Indian model and Miss Universe India, was the judge who selected the best performances. Dr. Sekar Viswanathan, Vice-President of VIT inaugurated 'Infusion'. Dr. Sandhya Pentareddy, Executive Director and Dr. S Narayanan, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of VIT participated in the inaugural function.


Telugu comedians Auto Ram Prasad and Getup Srinu regaled the students with their stand-up comedy at 'Sahiti', a medley of cultural, art and literary events in Telugu. Telugu actor Manju Manohar also participated in the event.


Telugu playback singer and music director Devi Sri Prasad gave a scintillating performance of Tamil, Telugu and Hindi film songs.
