In a recent interview, actress Nayanthara revealed that she has the habit of speaking to her two-year-old twin boys while they sleep. "Sometimes you have to talk to them while sleeping. Doctors say that whatever you speak while the kids are sleeping gets into their system. That's how strong or smart they become," the actress says in the chat. She apparently encourages her sons to be kind, though being smart and brave is also important. "If they become kind souls, I have won in life," says Nayanthara. However, is the practice recognised medically? According to various portals on child health and care, affirmative sleep talk therapy is a powerful tool many employ to help their kids improve their personality, self-esteem, confidence and various positive attributes. The therapy is designed for kids between the ages of two and 12.

According to the wellness portal icliniq, here's how parents can try affirmative sleep talk while their children sleep:
1) Parents should speak in a soothing, calm tone as they enter the room. Keep the comments brief and straightforward.
2) Start each session by expressing affection for the kids.
3) Do not use negative language, but use positive words, even while training poor behaviour. Focus on what needs to be improved instead of dwelling on what's not right.
